January 16th Grooming Report

Just another Fantastic Day!

It looks like the Teewinots were having a fantastic time yesterday, enjoying some great sunshine and pleasant temps while doing the fun kind of things that Teewinots love to do in the stadium.  Thanks a million to Coach Libby for the great images!  It can be a fantastic day for you too if you can manage a Nordic ski today.

In spite of the fact that the Teewinots thoroughly trashed many tons of snow yesterday, the Husky has been hard at it today, grooming things back into pretty good shape.  Today’s grooming venue included multiple passes on the close field skate lanes, a refresh of the East Field skate lanes as well, a single pass with fresh classic tracks through the woods, and multiple woods passes on Moose Loop and Animal Farm.

Finally today some moose were spotted in the East Field Woods.  They’ve been a bit slow to move in this winter, the elk have continued to make their nightly ghostly presence known before retiring to day beds for the skiing hours.  A coyote was also spotted moving fast on Moose Loop today.

As of report time the temp is climbing through 14ºF and the sun is trying really hard to burn off the frosty early morning conditions that resulted in some fantastic ice sculptures across the landscape.

Practice today includes Masters at mid-day, but should be light all in all, as Juniors and Prep/Comp skiers are on their way to the qualifier in Soldier Hollow.
