Freeride Summer 2025!
-
Intro:
February, mid-winter and the best conditions of the season. What a February it’s been! We’ve had awesome conditions with mid-winter pow, followed up with some spring sunshine! It’s hard to believe the majority of the winter is behind us and spring is on its way!
It’s been a hectic month and all of the coaches + athletes are coming off the busiest time in our competition season. This past weekend, Freeride attended 3 events in 2.5 different states (Does Targhee count as Idaho??). We’re grateful for some sun and the coming end of season wind-down to championship events! This newsletter will contain a recap of events in February, followed by an update on upcoming events for the month of March.
Keep up on the weekly ‘Friday Updates’ sent via email to stay up to date on all Freeride happenings. Instagram is our most updated social platform if you’d like to give us a follow JHSCFREERIDEPROGRAM.
See you all on hill! - Collin

February Recap:
Snowbasin IFSA 2*:
Snowbasin is a new event for our team this season. The mountain is steep, with great terrain. It’s close to home, and they run 2 single run competitions in one weekend. This is a great way for our athletes to stack points and get 2 starts back to back on the same venue.
Full results HERE.
Snowking IFSA 2*:
The weekend of Feb. 14-16, Snowking mountain hosted the revival of the Snowking IFSA Jr. Regional 2*. We used the newly cut Yeti run, which served as an awesome venue for a Freeride competition. This event is great for the community, and offers a low stress introduction to the sport of Freeride. We were lucky enough to have incredible conditions and weather for the event. JHSC Freeride athletes were joined by many of their friends from the Alpine program, as well as other teams in the region.
This event was very successful and will be running again in future years!

Wednesday Night Lights Stop 2:
Our second stop of Wednesday Night Lights went down on Feb. 19th @ SK mountain!
Crystal Mountain IFSA 3*:
Matt Newton, Riis Wilbrecht and crew went to Crystal Mt. Washington for the 3* national. Congratulations to Rigdon Hammond for his 5th place finish. Crystal is an awesome venue, we hope to attend again in the future.

Grand Targhee USASA Regional:
We’re glad our friends over the hill have started hosting USASA events again over the past couple of seasons. More local starts makes for less travel and more accessibility to the sport.

Grand Targhee IFSA Regional: **More information soon!
The annual Grand Targhee Regional
Snowbird IFSA National:
Adrian, Matt and myself as well as Blake Hubbell with the EVO team headed down to Snowbird with 19 athletes from Jackson this past weekend for the annual 3* National. The venue at Snowbird is top notch and the crew down there runs a great event. We had 4 straight days of sun and warm weather, a welcome departure from the usual cold and wind.
In the end, Nate Pruzan came out in 3rd for the U19 boys! Congrats to Nate and the rest of the athletes who put down great runs at the Bird!
