March 15th Grooming Report
Toodeloo Teewinots!
Yesterday was the final session of the year for Teewinots when the Tuesday-Thursday Teewinots got one last official ski in for the season. Lollipoppers, and Ositos are done and the Juniors will be skiing at the middle school today for their last session, so things will be a bit quieter in the days to come. Prep/Comp skiers still have training ahead although the official schedule has not been released yet. Thanks to Coach Adam for sending in the great shot above.
We do still have the final race of the year, the International Spring Series March 30-April 1. Barring a massive heat wave, grooming will continue until April 1. At Lake Placid, NY racing is happening today, check it out at the event website or on the live webcam.
Today is a transition day at Trail Creek. The Husky was out this morning on an abbreviated route, mainly washing out the tracks from yesterday’s practice. Trails groomed include the fields, Grunt, Moose Poop, Moose Loop, and Homeward and Outward Bound. The results were a little chunky, but will ski fine. As temps warm, skiing on the rest of the trails should also be nice.
Next grooming will be this evening and will continue in the evenings until the weather changes. Looking forward, if early morning is your skiing time, head for the fields where the crust is skiing nicely, mid-day skiers will be able to enjoy the sunny trails as the temps warm, and afternoon skiers should find nice skiing in the woods. Grooming might shift to every other day next week depending on the Prep/Comp schedule; this will be reported ahead of time in the grooming report which will be posted early morning after evening grooming.
Groomer’s choice for today is to enjoy the warm spell.
