November 25th Grooming Report
From Moose to Mouse!
The mammals you might encounter on your next Nordic outing range from over a thousand pound moose to tiny rodents probably weighing less than an ounce. One of this morning’s discoveries was the little guy pictured above who had seemed to have lost his way as he was in the middle of one of the trails in the close field. Not actually a mouse but probably a vole, at the last sighting he (or she) was looking for a way to retreat to safety under the snow.
Today’s grooming was a bit of a mixed bag. The initial mission was Pisten Bully grooming of the close field with special emphasis on mining snow to cover some of the rocks that have popped out in recent days. This went pretty well with almost nothing but snow and perhaps the occasional bit of organic matter on the vast majority of the trails. Two passes were completed with fresh reasonable classic tracks.
The Ginzu ventured out into the woods, once again smoothing our hard working snow. The classic tracks in the Armin’s/Moose Loop area are still pretty good. There is a little snow forecast for the next 24 hours so keep your fingers crossed!
Groomer’s choice for today is the close field.
