November 18th Grooming Report
Leaden Sky!
The clouds are pretty thick this morning with a surprisingly warm 10 AM temp of 40ºF at Trail Creek. While yesterday morning at Trail Creek was a bit on the crusty and icy side, things today are looking quite nice. The base was firm but malleable so the tool of choice for today’s grooming was the Ginzu Groomer.
Best line skate passes were made on all trails with extra grooming in some locations. The base is still quite thin and probably needs some more snow before we bring out the Pisten Bully again, but if you can make it out today you will find pretty good skating everywhere and pretty good classic tracks in the close field and on Armin’s.
There are good chances of precipitation over the next few days, how much and whether liquid or frozen will determine grooming and skiing conditions. Snow would be better than rain...
Another bit of news you might have heard this year is that the former Noble cabin has been sold to a new owner. This is the log cabin that had been snowmobile accessed during the winter in the past. The new owner will be plowing the road, but the plan is that the road will have a snow base maintained and will be plowed with a rotary plow/snow blower. This is a work in progress but hopefully we can all get along well and come up with a good system.
There is construction going on this winter which will add some additional challenges but we ask your patience. In the next few days there will be some trenching done across some of our trails but hopefully as soon as additional snow falls, the trenches will be only a distant memory.
Groomer’s choice today is to check out the Ginzu grooming; Shades of Gray would be a good bet today.
