March 1st Grooming Report
State Champions!
The final day of the 2020 Wyoming High School Nordic Skiing Championships was another great day for our athletes. Not only did both the boys and girls finish first in the team category, Elijah Weenig was the fastest male classic skier in the state and Natalie O’Brien and Kate Brigham were the first and second fastest female skiers. Congratulations to all the athletes and the coaches! Thanks also to Coach Dan for the great picture above. All the results can be viewed at the High Plains Nordic site.
Here today at Trail Creek you’ll be able to find plenty of good skiing. Overnight we received 3-5 inches of heavy warm snow. Noon conditions are calm, mostly cloudy and with a temperature right at freezing. Today’s grooming was with the Ginzu throughout the trail network with the classic track going in on the first pass followed by multiple skate passes.
As grooming progressed the snow warmed enough that the final passes on some of the woods trails had to be completed with the roller. However, whether you are skating our classic skiing you should be able to find plenty of nice skiing wherever you go, although the fields are the nicest.
There is a large organized group of parents and kids out today but there is still plenty of room and time for you to have a great ski.
Groomer’s choice for today is the fields.
