February 22nd Grooming Report
Dawn of Another Bluebird Day!
The sun is once again beaming down upon the miles of Nordic trails at the Trail Creek Nordic Center. Cool temps, both a blessing and a curse; continue again today with 9:30 AM temperature slightly warmer than yesterday at -12ºC/10ºF. It looks as if calm winds and sunny skies will be the rule for the rest of the day.
There was a bit of an ungulate stampede going on this morning on Homeward Bound. Too many elk to get a good count and around a half dozen moose were getting each other all worked up, romping around in a slight state of confusion as right of way protocols were attempting to be established. Grooming continued elsewhere while calm eventually returned. On the way back to the cabin past the site of the carnival cervidae, it was deemed that the melee of hoof prints was the perfect opportunity for a total rework of Homeward Bound, resulting in best of the year conditions, assuming the elk and moose stay in their day beds which they usually do.
Today’s Pisten Bully grooming was of the best line skate variety on all major trails. Homeward Bound and few other spots did receive classic track touch ups. Thanks to the cold conditions skiing has remained quite nice although a little fresh snow which we are supposed to receive Sunday night would be a good thing.
Groomer’s choice for today is Homeward Bound.
