Club Wide Avalanche Education

The Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club’s mission statement is to inspire and develop student-athletes through World-Class, innovative, and accessible ski and snowboard programs that provide opportunities to pursue personal excellence in snow sports and life.

A component of the program that has been developed in line with this mission statement is our Clubwide avalanche education program.

This year's event will take place on December 13, from 5:30-7PM:

Join us in the Snow King Lodge Room to learn the basics of avalanche safety. Topics include:

  • Weather and avalanche reports
  • What to carry in your pack
  • Intro to beacon use
  • Communications in the backcountry

Everyone is welcome, from the experienced traveler seeking a refresh or those who want to learn about avalanches and backcountry travel.

The evening will include hands-on practice with avalanche beacons and trip packing. You do not need to bring any gear, but you are welcome to bring a beacon if you have one and want to practice with your own!
