4 Month Program:
February was a busy month packed full of education for these high and middle schoolers. We had our annual trip to the Teton County SAR hanger where we had a great training on wildernedd first aid, and got a tour of the hanger! Some of our team memebers even decided to join the youth program at Teton Co. SAR. Athletes also spent 2 field days and a classroom session completing their Avalanche Level 1 cert through the American Avalanche Institute. We are truly building a strong and proficient next generation of backcountry skiers! In March the team will continue to hone in our skills and fitness with 3 back to back touring weeknds in Grand Teton National Park in partnership with Exum Guides. We are excited to finsh the season out strong!
Mini Mountaineers:
The MiniMountaineers celebrated their second successful backcountry day in Grand Teton National Park. After training as a team of sixteen at Snow King for the last month, members noticed improvement on backcountry transitions and increased their fitness making it further up Snow King each time. They enjoyed great weather and even better skiing on 25 Short and Maveriks. They also had a snowball fight, learned about whitebark trees, and enjoyed picnicking with delicious snacks. As the season winds down, their only regrets are not having more backcountry days.
