March 19th Grooming Report

Ready for Practice!

It’s not exactly clear what this setup was for in the stadium this morning, but there are going to be festive practice sessions today and tomorrow as many of the JHSC programs are wrapping up for the season.  This morning has already been quite busy with a good number of recreational skiers out enjoying a bit of sunshine, lovely Nordic temperatures, and lots of great snow.

Today’s grooming began with a Husky journey through the woods.  This pass covered nearly every trail and set classic tracks where needed.  Moose Loop and Woolsey Woods got two passes.  There have been quite a few moose sightings lately, but a trio of elk, including a pretty nice bull, were hanging out in Woolsey Woods this morning.  They are definitely more camera shy than moose, but at least you can make them out in the quickly snapped photo through the windshield.

Grooming then shifted to the fields with most trails receiving multiple passes with fresh classic tracks.  The Close Field continues to receive some new routing in preparation for the upcoming International Spring Series Races beginning March 29th.  Results were quite favorable today and it is a fantastic day for a Nordic ski.

Groomer’s choice for today is Woolsey Woods.
