Mt Hood Summer Camp June 17-24
With five athletes registered thus far, we are going to be loading up a van and heading to Mt Hood for and eight day camp with six days on snow! It's stacking up to be an unforgettable adventure with our team being based out of the world renown "Windells" for some summer slush shredding!
The summer camp plans are being finalized this week, but there is still room to join our trip. We recently were offered a team discount for an eight day camp during Session one. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Windells, it has long prided itself on being known as "the funnest place on earth." Also, new this year, Windells has joined with High Cascade and is both a Ski and Snowboard camp experience.
This will be an incredible upgrade from the original plan and include the following:
- one additional day on snow (6 days total)
- unlimited access to the Skateparks, trampolines, foam pits, and more (Link here)
- unlimited access to private terrain parks
- longest summer terrain park in North America!
- 2 separate airbags
- rope tows & high speed quad lifts
- 18' halfpipe
- terrain features for all ages and abilities
Not forgetting as previously planned the following as well:
- Transportation to camp from Jackson
- Lodging
- Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner (*limited to one meal on travel days)
- Coaching & supervision
As many of you know, the US Ski & Snowboard training matrices summer training recommendations include 10-25 days on snow for athletes in Phases 3-5 (ages 10-18). This camp will certainly be a great way to work toward your snowboard and freeski goals while having the time of your life.
Free Weekly Bike Rides
We want to keep the team strong! Let's get together and go for a pedal this summer.
As promised, we are going to offer free weekly group bike rides. These rides will depart from the JHSC Headquarters at 100 East Snow King Avenue. They are open to all Freeride Team Participants ages 10+ with some cycling experience. The rides will take place one mid-week day per week, but the schedule will vary a bit to accommodate for camps and other FRP activities. Stay tuned for weekly updates.

What's required:
- Mountain bikes (suspension recommended)
- helmet required
What's recommended:
- gloves
- water (bottle or camelback)
- sunglasses
- light snack
When: 5:15 pm - 6:45 pm (ish)
Where: JHSC Headquarters - 100 East Snow King
Why: Biking is great for your fitness, mentality, and will compliment your skiing / snowboarding.
How: These are a FREE offering to encourage more summer participation. Please show up on time and ready to shred. Here are a few reminders before we ride:
- Bike has air in the tires
- Chain is lubed and rust free
- Brakes work
- Bike shifts properly
- Seat is adjusted

Snow King Clean-up Day - June 12 4 -7:30 pm
Teamwork makes the dream work. Let's get our team together and take care of the town hill. We welcome all hands on deck for a few hours of collecting the rocks from the lower slopes. This effort will improve our early season shredding make the mountain that much more fun! We are looking forward to a big turnout for this afternoon of community service. Each volunteer will be entered into a raffle with prizes from the JHSC supporting sponsors.
18/19 Snow King Terrain Park Plans
We are excited to be bringing the United States Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association's National Championships to Snow King next winter! This will give us the opportunity to build a never before constructed Boarder / Skier Cross track and improve on the Terrain Park features as well. For those of you familiar with the 16/17 Snow King terrain Park, there are some similarities, but the main change is that we will move be moving the start mound and both jumps about 100- 150 yards uphill. This change will help us to work with slope angles that are more conducive to terrain park design. Here's our first look at the course layout for you. Keep in mind that this is a rough draft.
