March 24th Grooming Report--Grooming to the End!

March 24th Grooming Report

Grooming to the End!

Even though we’ve been blessed with plentiful late season snows and lots of not too warm temperatures, the end of grooming is eventually going to be upon us.  In order to keep track of what’s going on in the days ahead, check out the schedule below;

Monday March 24th (Today)

Today’s Husky grooming began in the woods with a pass on nearly every trail.  Today’s focus was skate lanes as classic tracks are mostly nice in this morning’s +40º temps.  The Gill Huff extension by the A frame cabin is being abandoned as the snow bridge will probably get a bit terrifying sometime in the near future.

Grooming then shifted to the fields with all skate lanes being set, most classic tracks as well with attention given to the race courses below.

Tuesday March 25th

Normal grooming with sunny skies and a forecast high of 47º.

Wednesday March 26th

Normal grooming with sunny skies and a forecast high of 55º.

Thursday March 27th

Normal grooming with a sun and a forecast high of 55º, could potentially shift to evening grooming depending on snow conditions.

Friday March 28th

International Spring Series Course Inspection. Total grooming on this day with courses still open to the public.  Forecast of snow showers and 43º.

Saturday March 29th Freestyle Sprint (1.25k)

No grooming in the woods, fields closed to the public although access to forest service trails is possible from the end of the Old Pass Road. Forecast of snow showers and 41º.

Sunday March 30th 10k Classic Individual Start (2 x 5k) (5k for U16s)

No grooming in the woods, fields, Woolsey Woods, Moose Poop, and Beaver Ponds closed to the public although access to forest service trails is possible from the end of the Old Pass Road.  Forecast of snow showers and 44º.

Monday March 31st

Rest and training day for International Spring Series, last system wide grooming.

Tuesday April 1st Mixed Gender/Mixed Technique Relay (4x 2 x 2.5k)

No grooming in the woods, fields closed to the public although access to forest service trails is possible from the end of the Old Pass Road.

Wednesday April 2nd Freestyle Mass Start

(Same course as above)

Final grooming of the season with the race course and warm up areas being the only grooming.

Enjoy it while it lasts, looks to be a fun week to maybe even ski in your shorts a time or two!

Groomer’s choice for today is to try some of the new routing in the fields.
