December 8th Grooming Report
Frosty Morning!
Even though the sun has basically been shining all morning, there has been a steady accumulation of frost snow or diamond dust falling on our trails today. When the warmer moist air cools in the inversion it can no longer hold all the moisture so it comes out as these ethereal flakes that have been adding to our base. They have actually contributed about an inch that will do little more than make for a nice fresh ski surface.
We’ve still not seen our Husky technician yet, he is supposed to be en route as of report time and will hopefully be able to affect a rapid return to service of our great grooming machine. Therefore today’s grooming was once again with the Ginzu. Pretty much every trail was covered with skate grooming with multiple passes happening in the Close Field, Moose Loop, Armin’s and Animal Farm.
While perhaps not as photo perfect as Husky grooming, several early morning skiers out braving the cool temps were making great time with smiles on their faces.
Intermountain Division (IMD) racing is happening today in Sun Valley, although the major racing will be Saturday and Sunday. Results will be posted on the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation Super Tour site.
Groomer’s choice for today is Woolsey Woods.
