The Power of the Husky!

What in one moment were some deeply buried old truck tracks of someone’s long ago adventure up Homesite, with one fell swoop of the Husky becomes some pretty nice Nordic ski trails.  Around a foot of snow has allowed the Husky to make lots of fell swoops today, covering a good section of the Trail Creek system with nice fresh grooming.

Since Saturday around a foot of snow has fallen at Trail Creek, presenting a passport for Nordic skiing to kick into high gear.  While the East Fields and a few minor trails in the woods were not groomed, pretty much everything else received at least one pass with the Close Field receiving multiple passes with first of the year classic tracks.

The forecast calls for snow to dwindle this afternoon with light snow showers until Thursday night when we get another shot at significant snowfall.  The weather station at the cabin is currently showing 18.5ºF with calm winds and today’s report from the nearest snow reporting station, Phillips Bench, shows us at a healthy 127% of normal snowpack for this time of year.

Going forward look for daily grooming, expanded classic tracks, and full winter Nordic skiing.  If you haven’t done so yet, it’s time to come on out and have a great Nordic ski!

Groomer’s choice for today is an exploratory venture up Homesite.
