March 31st Grooming Report

Competent Caring Coaches!

Just in the image above, there is somewhere between 40 and 50 years of coaching experience; that is a whole lot of knowledge to pass on to our youth skiers, not to mention the dedication to stick with a demanding job for that long.  JHSC Nordic is an amazing program, not only because of all the dedicated sponsors and support staff, but majorly because of our hard working coaching staff such as Coaches Jon, Luna, and Ben pictured above, Coach Will leading the organization, the head coaches for each program pictured below, and all the assistant coaches that make JHSC Nordic what it is, an amazing place for young people to learn to Nordic ski and develop healthy habits to last a lifetime.  Thanks coaches!

You can work on your healthy habits today if you come out to Trail Creek for a Nordic ski.  Sunday evening the fields received extensive grooming with multiple classic tracks.  Husky grooming resumed this morning with nearly every trail in the woods receiving multiple passes and fresh classic tracks.

Several moose were wandering around today, robins have been flitting to and fro, and grouse were heard to be making their springtime courtship drumming today.  Some serious snow squalls have been coming through with about three inches of accumulation so far.

Today is a practice day for the International Spring Series skiers with racing resuming tomorrow and finishing on Wednesday.  The fields will be groomed again for each of the two final days of racing.  The woods have received their final grooming although skiing should remain possible for some time on the National Forest.

Groomer’s choice for today is a lovely ski through the snowy woods to see if you can hear a drumming grouse.
