March 20th Grooming Report
Bonus Winter in Spring!
Even though spring officially began at 3:01 AM last night, it wouldn’t take much imagination to think that you are skiing in January if you make it out to Trail Creek today. Snow totals so far are approaching five inches with a lovely Nordic temperature of 26º, making it yet another great day to ski. Conditions look snowy and relatively cool into the weekend although spring might finally arrive in force next week with the forecast currently calling for sun and a high of 54º next Wednesday; better take advantage of it while you can!
Even though the Husky was hard at it today, conditions will be a bit rustic, but definitely worth the journey out to experience all the fresh new snow. Grooming began in the woods with a pass on nearly every trail. When grooming commenced, the classic tracks were still crisp although substantial snow has accumulated since then. Grooming then shifted to the fields with multiple passes with fresh classic tracks on major trails as well as the Nordic X course for today’s last official JHSC practices of the season.
Be aware that there is some new routing in the fields in preparation for the upcoming International Spring Series Races beginning March 29th. Maps of the three courses are available on the website.
Groomer’s choice for today is a quiet cruise through the snowy woods.
