December 24th Grooming Report
Christmas Eve!
Christmas Eve 2024 is kind of a warm and crusty day at Trail Creek. There’s already been a steady stream of dedicated IMD skiers showing up for their “on their own” practice today and what they’ve been finding are some fast but quite hard conditions.
The Husky started the day off making multiple passes around the Close Field. Yesterday’s rain did present us with some challenging conditions, however after multiple passes the snow was finally shaping up pretty well. After an exploratory venture into the woods however, the decision was made to not proceed with the Husky there as the snow is still a little thin for aggressive tilling which would have been required. The Ginzu however did smooth things out a bit and as the day warms, conditions should become nice.
The good news today is that snow returns tomorrow with nearly two feet forecast in the next week. It has been a fantastic day for squirrels as they seem to be enjoying the crust cruising with sightings everywhere. Of note as well, the elk and moose have been moving in for the winter lately with numerous sightings of them as well.
Groomer’s choice for today is the Close Field.
