In December Freeride and Alpine U14s, U12s, and U10s met with Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Ski Patrol. During this meeting ski patrol reviewed mountain etiquette with athletes. In the month of January instructors from the American Avalanche Institute will be working with JHSC Alpine U14 and U16 athletes to provide programming specific to these age groups on avalanche awareness.
The Alpine U12s will also have avalanche programming with Exum Guide and AAI Instructor Zahan. Zahan will focus on the differences between in bounds and out of bounds skiing, and what we carry in our backpack to be prepared for the backcountry environment. This program will take place at Snow King on January 6th during training.
We are also excited to be offering an all JHSC Avalanche 1 Course through AAI. We encourage all interested athletes to sign up for this program as soon as they can!
