Alpine March Newsletter

The Alpine team has been busy prepping for qualifying races and now getting ready for championships events! Weather in the valley recently has made for great training at Snow King and the sun always makes spirits high!

FIS – U18 Nationals / World Juniors

The FIS team recently had an incredible few weeks of Elite FIS races, U18 Nationals, World Juniors and exceptional weather. The Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club sent a strong group of athletes, Taylor Moe, Jaden D’Amours & Lucy Wirth to compete in the U18 Nationals held in Aspen, Colorado. Meanwhile, Mattias Wilson was representing the U.S. at the World Junior Championships in Tarvisio, Italy, where he made an impressive mark on the international stage. Mattias finished 10th overall in the downhill event, securing his place as the second-fastest American in the race. This achievement is a huge accomplishment and serves as a testament to his dedication and training.

U16 – UOP SG Qualifier & U16 Regionals/Tri-Divisional 
The U16 team had an exciting trip to the Utah Olympic Park (UOP), where they enjoyed sunny skies and some fast-paced racing. The course was challenging, but the athletes tackled it with skill and determination. Ten of the U16 athletes qualified for the U16 Regional Champs at Schweitzer, Idaho and a handful of athletes making it to Tri-Divisional’s at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR), which will kick off on March 18th. The team is looking forward to the upcoming competition and is ready to take on the best as they push for even greater achievements.

U14 – Park City Qualifier, Regionals at Mammoth

The U14 group headed to Park City for their qualifier, where they put on impressive performances. Several athletes from the group earned spots to compete in the upcoming Champs, with 3-4 athletes securing their places. This is a major milestone for these young racers. Next, the U14s will be heading to Mammoth for the regional competition, where they’ll face off against the top competitors from the region. 

U10/U12 – IMD Travel & Club Series
The U10 and U12 athletes have been hard at work refining their skills through fun drills and practice sessions. Despite the focus on improvement, these young racers always make sure to have a good time and enjoy the process. Their enthusiasm and positive energy are truly contagious! They have been very busy this past month with two club series one at White Pine in Pinedale and JHMR! The IMD series has brought the team to McCall, Idaho and Rotarun, Idaho during February!

2-Day Group 

The 2-Day group has been getting in some great training at Snow King and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, where they’ve been focusing on enhancing their skills and technique. The mountain’s varied terrain has been perfect for refining turns and edge control, and the athletes have been making the most of every opportunity. It’s been a productive and fun-filled time for this group, as they continue to develop as racers.

Rockchuck

The Rockchucks are having an amazing time this season, with plenty of fun and learning along the way. Their training has been focused on the basics, but with plenty of fun, they are building a strong foundation for future seasons. The team’s coaches are keeping things light-hearted and engaging, ensuring that the kids are developing both their skills and their love for the sport.


Upcoming Events:

  • March 9th: Parent-Kid Dual Club Series

    The Parent-Kid Dual Club Series will be held on March 9th. This is a fantastic opportunity for families to come together and compete in a fun, friendly atmosphere. Grab your race skis, get ready for some great times, and enjoy a day of spirited competition with your child!
  • March 14-16th: Jackson Hole Downhill

    The Jackson Hole Downhill will take place from March 14th - 16th. This event will be open to athletes from U14 and up, providing a thrilling downhill experience on the world-renowned slopes of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Both Saturday and Sunday will feature exciting races that are sure to challenge even the most seasoned competitors.
  • March 18-21st: Tri Divisionals at JHMR

    From March 18th - 21st, JHMR will host the Tri Divisionals, this unique event brings athletes together from the 3 divisions in the Western Region. Northern, Far West and Intermountain. Come out and cheer on our local athletes.
