March 3rd Grooming Report
Gently Falling Snowflakes!
As of report time our ski trails are receiving some lovely nourishment in the form of fresh, heavily falling, snow. As grooming was nearing completion as shown in the image below, it was looking like today’s snow forecast was going to be a bust, but we’ve already picked up the forecast inch and it’s still coming down pretty steadily.
Looking at our JHSC ski programs, another big week is on tap. The biggest news of the week is that our high school level skiers will mostly be taking off on Friday, either for Junior Nationals at Soldier Hollow, Utah or Western Club Championships at nearby (to Soldier Hollow) Park City. While the Western Club Championships are a two day event, the Junior Nationals will last into the following weekend.
Today’s Husky grooming covered every trail, beginning with a journey through the woods. Woolsey Woods, Grunt, Moose Poop, Outward Bound, and Homeward Bound all got multiple passes with fresh classic tracks. The rest of the woods trails mainly received skate only grooming as classic tracks were crisp with a quarter inch of fresh snow at the time they were groomed.
Grooming then shifted to the fields with most everything receiving multiple passes and fresh classic tracks. Most minor trails and the Nordic X course received attention as well. As of report time new snowfall is approaching two inches with a temperature of 31.5º.
Groomer’s choice for today is a ski through the woods on the freshly fallen snow.
