December 9th Grooming Report

Snow and a Busy Week!

The really good news today is that the snow that was kind of petering out yesterday, kicked in with one last hurrah, and graced our trails with 2-3 inches of the lovely white late in the day yesterday.  This not only paved the way for the Ginzu to get a good workout today, but also ensured that next weekend’s massive racing schedule has been given the green light as well.

As the Ginzu began its workout today, it made more or less three passes through the Close Field followed by two passes through the woods trails.  One of the Close Field passes did attempt the “first of the year” classic track with mixed results.  The trails, especially in the woods are still “early season rustic” but there’s no reason that you can’t get a good Nordic workout today as well.  The East Fields are still about 20 inches of additional snow away from being groomed.

This week’s schedule above shows that things are looking quite busy.  If you are contemplating skiing the Betty Woolsey on Saturday, if not up already, the registration link will be up shortly on the event website.  This longtime valley tradition will most likely be freestyle this year due to low snow conditions, registration will close the night before the race so be sure to get yourself registered and be part of the fun.  Don’t forget you’ll be out there with hundreds of regional youth, how could you miss that!

Speaking of those youth, they’ll be busy on our trails as well this week; word is that many will be doing trail maintenance today in an effort to ensure we host the best possible race next weekend.  A few final notes; Nordic Masters are always welcome at the Betty Woolsey and they are also tentatively scheduled to be at the Teton Pines this Thursday although according to The Pine’s website they are not yet open so stay tuned and the next major grooming is tentatively Wednesday evening in anticipation of Thursday's course inspection.

Groomer’s choice for today is Upper Armin’s.
