January 23rd Grooming Report
Ski Ballet!
The Teewinots were up to their usual shenanigans yesterday, performing ski ballet below the Aspen Bump. The second and third grade Teewinots are young enough to know how to have a really good time, but old enough to be some pretty competent skiers. A Teewinot sighting is always a joy, thanks to Coach Libby for the image!
Images at Trail Creek today are somewhat of a complicated picture. While the warm overnight temps and half inch of fresh snow has resulted in some quite nice skiing conditions, if your goal is to take pictures, the fog, snow, and flat light might make that difficult. However for most Nordic skiers a good ski is priority number one and that shouldn’t be a problem today.
Yesterday’s classic tracks are still pristine with a dusting of snow in them; the grooming focus today was mostly on skate lanes. The Husky covered pretty much every trail in the system with pretty good results. You will find a few classic track breaks in the narrower section where the Husky could not pass without resetting the classic track. Animal Farm and Olympic did receive multiple passes and fresh classic tracks today. Experienced skiers will also note that the Nordic X course is starting to happen, although a bit more snow is needed for the extreme version.
Groomer’s choice for today is Olympic.
