December 14th Grooming Report
Race Weekend!
Many of our JHSC youth will be off to West Yellowstone this weekend for the Intermountain Nordic Division’s first race of the year. While all of the region has been a bit short on snow so far this winter, a first-hand report yesterday indicated that things are looking pretty good in West Yellowstone and it should be a great weekend of racing! If you’re hankering for a road trip, West Yellowstone is a lovely place to visit. All the info is available on their website.
Today at Trail Creek we’re in snow conservation mode. The good news is that the snow returns to the forecast Monday night. Today’s grooming was mostly a best line Ginzu pass over most of the trails with the field receiving two passes. Brush cutting and snow shoveling continue to go hand in hand with grooming until the snow finally arrives. The snow is quite firm, a bit brushy, a little rough in places, but mostly very skiable yet. Thankfully the temps have been moderate and the weak December sun doesn’t do much to the snow. The next grooming will be Saturday morning.
Groomer’s choice for today is the sunny fields.
