November 26th Grooming Report

Time to Get Serious!

While we’ve had tantalizing early season snows, it looks like things will be shifting into high gear in the next week with lots of great Nordic skiing on the horizon.  Over the Thanksgiving holiday about 2 inches of snow found its way onto the Trail Creek system and the forecast is quite promising with snow showers forecast for today and a predicted nearly 6 inches landing Sunday night and Monday.  If the forecasts hold true we should be able to get most trails cooperating nicely with your Nordic skiing equipment.

Today the Husky made a maiden voyage into the woods.  In addition to rebuffing the Close Field, many new (to Husky grooming this year) trails including Grunt, Woolsey, Moose Poop, Homeward and Outward Bound, Moose Loop, Armin’s, Lower Homesite, Olympic, and Animal Farm all received at least a single pass from the Husky.  Conditions are still very thin with quite a bit of vegetation showing through, but the efforts of the Husky made a huge leap forward in the condition of the trails.  You should find plenty to enjoy today if you are lucky enough to have a Nordic outing.

One thing new this year, the Trail Creek page on the jhskiclub.org site has a new feature which is a weather station at the cabin.  Before heading out you can see exactly what the temperature, wind, etc., is doing at Trail Creek, a pretty cool thing.

The next grooming will be tomorrow or Monday, depending on how much snow falls; an inch or more overnight will most likely merit another Husky pass on Sunday.

Groomer’s choice for today is to check out newly groomed Armin’s.
