January 23rd Grooming Report
Misty Magic!
While on some days a blazing sun in a bluebird sky is just what the soul needs; every once in a while however it’s magical to have somber day with tendrils of mist slowly drifting down the canyons, a thundering silence prevailing in the woods, and miles and miles of lonely trails beckoning you onwards. If the latter option is calling you today, answer that call and come on out to Trail Creek for a great Nordic ski.
While at the moment it is a bit on the busy side with the Wilson Winter Sports enjoying our winter splendor, in the blink of an eye their session will have ended and if the training calendar is correct, the chance is good that you could have the trails mostly to yourself this afternoon.
Today’s grooming was double Pisten Bully passes with fresh classic tracks through almost all field trails and on the National Forest. Yesterday’s classic tracks on the rest of the woods trails had a short inch of snow in them so that the single skate only PB pass should still let all skiers find joy.
A herd of elk has been making nightly forays throughout the woods but their tracks are mostly gone and a couple of moose were out and about this morning, but all in all conditions are great. As of 12:15 PM the temperature was -3ºC/27ºF with a touch of freezing mist from time to time.
Groomer’s choice for today is the misty trails on the National Forest.
