Program Highlights

Our student-athletes have been hard at work this fall, starting off their academic year strong while ramping up their dryland training across a range of spaces around town, including Alpine Fields, Snow King, Teton Pass, Cache Creek, GTNP, and Axis Gymnastics.

The Alpine Program departs with 14 athletes on Thursday, October 7, for on-snow training in Austria and is registering athletes for early-season Colorado Camp, to take place at Copper Mountain during the first two weeks of November. In preparation, many of our FIS and U16 Alpine athletes have been hard at work making academic plans to complete coursework while they are in Europe: we are grateful to our school partners and faculty who are collaborating to support these students while they are away. If 2020 taught us anything, it is that remote work via video meetings makes schoolwork on these long-distance trips easier to keep in real time!

School Partnerships:

Since August, Student Athlete Support has been gearing up for the 21/22 academic year, meeting with our partner schools to coordinate student-athlete scheduling and early-release programming for fall and winter. We are grateful to the administrations of our TCSD partner schools Jackson Hole High School and Jackson Hole Middle School, Jackson Hole Community School, Jackson Hole Classical Academy, Mountain Academy of Teton Science Schools, and Teton High School for their collaboration on the most effective ways to support our student-athletes.

Early-Release Programming:

Nordic early-release programming for Fall Dryland began on October 4 and will shift earlier for Winter/On-Snow training beginning November 1.

Alpine early-release programming tentatively begins in mid-November, when the Club is able to move to on-snow training. Program Directors and Coaches will notify participants of this shift in their weekly update in advance of the start date.

For details about early-release times, programming, and support by school and by JHSC program/team, please visit the SAS webpage or contact the SAS Director, Grace Tirapelle at gtirapelle@jhskiclub.org

At-Home Baseline Concussion Testing with ImPACT:

As stated in the JHSC Parent Athlete Handbook, JHSC requires that all athletes U14 and older (YOB 2009 and earlier) complete a Concussion Baseline test every year.

This season, JHSC is using the ImPACT At-Home Baseline Test, which takes about 20 minutes to complete. Student-Athletes born in 2009 or earlier were sent an email on Sept. 20 by ImPACT that included a customized test redemption code and a link to the online test. Any athletes who register after that date receive a code shortly after completing JHSC registration. (If an athlete does not have an email address on file, the test code is sent to the Guardian 1 email in your JHSC registration account). We ask that you please complete a Baseline test no later than October 15.

Please find general information about the ImPACT test and their instructions for At-Home testing here. For more information on Concussion injury and rehabilitation, please see ImPACT’s Concussion 101 Guide

If you already took a Concussion Baseline test elsewhere this fall, including through TCSD, please enter that info into this form no later than October 15. THANK YOU!!

Please do not hesitate to reach out (gtirapelle@jhskiclub.org) if you have any questions about Club Concussion Policy or procedures.
