Fall Training!
School is in session and most of the teams are just back adjusting to the new schedule and participating in other activities. The month of September is one of the slowest months for nordic training at JHSC because the Juniors do not have practices during this time. However, that will change on September 30, the first day of Junior practice for the year!
Most of the month has been glorious with blue skies, yellow leaves, and strong athletes training hard! We have started off with a great block of training including long runs, rollerski agility, intervals, technique, and early morning strength before school in the gym! It has been awesome seeing so many athletes stay involved with practice even during the busy fall. Comp Team Head Coach Luna Wasson has been facilitating goal setting sessions for both the individuals and the team as a whole, which is a great activity to undertake at this time of year. Even though it still feels like winter is super far away, it will be here before we know it and it is important to take advantage of this time and not let it slip away.
Next up for the team is the start of Junior Practice, where the numbers of skiers training after school will double! Our middle school group wil join out high schoolers in skiing around and preparing for the winter! We will also leave for the Schutzenski Rollerski Festival in Park City, UT from October 17-19! JHSC athletes will train against the best in the country, including US Ski Team members and top Juniors from all over the West. Wish our athletes luck!

2024-25 Nordic Race Schedule
Below find the 2024-25 race schedule for the majority of events occurring locally and regionally. The Betty Woolsey Classic will be held on Saturday, December 14th this year as a part of a bigger event JHSC is hosting at Trail Creek. In particular, I want everyone to note that Intermountain Youth Championships will be in Victor at the Mike Harris ski trails this winter! This event is super fun and is aimed at all youth skiers up to middle school age (U14s and younger). Please mark that date, we are going to encourage all elementary school and middle school-aged kids to attend!
