March 5th Grooming Report

Yeti Sighting!

Luckily the Teewinots seemed to survive and perhaps thrive after their encounter with a Yeti yesterday on the trails of Trail Creek!  You never know quite what you’ll find on your next Nordic outing, a moose, an elk, a fox, or a yeti; you can usually find at least a pretty good Nordic ski, thanks to Coach Libby for the images.

If you do make it out today to Trail Creek, you will find lots of snow with another winter storm warning in effect and also lots of fresh Husky grooming.  The current round of snow is forecast to dump between 11 and 20 inches between now and Wednesday evening.

Today’s grooming shifted gears and began focusing on the upcoming Skinny Skis Wydaho Nordic Race Series Season Finale which is scheduled for 10 AM Saturday.  You can click on the map above or here for a higher resolution view.  While the Husky did make multiple passes in the close field and on the Nordic X course, the woods routing was mostly a single skate/classic pass of the course above.  We’ve received 3-4 inches since yesterday’s grooming which turned into some nice, if slightly soft corduroy and very skiable classic tracks.

Be sure to mark your calendars for the upcoming race, there will be distances for everyone, ranging from ½ to 10 K, a grand way to begin to wrap up a great season of racing.

Groomer’s choice for today is to look for the Yeti on you ski today.
