March 5th Grooming Report
Endless Sunshine!
Another great spring ski day is in progress at Trail Creek, calm winds, almost no clouds and a rapidly warming temperature just passing through the freezing mark at 11:30 AM.
Looking out across the East Fields above, warm sunny days like today make skiers begin to dream of far flung springtime crust cruising adventures. An early morning check today reported close but not quite there crust cruising conditions. However, with the warm forecast plus some rain over the weekend crust cruising should be here before we know it, possibly as soon as tomorrow morning.
Today’s Ginzu grooming was a bit challenging with hard frozen trails. All trails did receive multiple skate passes but the Ginzu was having a problem making much progress. However as of grooming time the warm temperatures have softened the snow and for the rest of the day skiing should be pretty good.
Tentatively we are switching to evening grooming today for the next few days so look for smooth but very fast skiing in the early mornings with softening conditions throughout the day. A cow and calf moose were hanging close to the cabin this morning, keep your eyes open!
Groomer’s choice for today is the sunny fields.
