March 14th Grooming Report
BB Gun Biathlon!
One of the fun things that goes on at Trail Creek as the season is winding down is that the kids get to try out skiing a BB gun biathlon. Biathlon is an Olympic sport that dates back to time immemorial in Scandinavia and our skiers still get to give it a shot, literally. There’s a great article in Wikipedia about biathlon, thanks Coach Libby for sending in the great images!
Even though the season might be winding down, you’ll find plenty of great skiing today at Trail Creek. The Husky was hard at it, beginning with a journey through the woods. Overnight we received from about a half inch up to three inches of snow depending on where in the trail network you looked. Most classic tracks were reset in the woods and multiple passes happened on Woolsey Woods, Animal Farm, Olympic, and Moose Loop.
Grooming then shifted to the fields with the primary focus today being multiple passes on the course for tomorrow’s Skinny Skis Wydaho Season Finale. A classic track was set and will be set tomorrow as well. Even though the snow was quite crusty this morning, conditions turned out quite nicely. As of report time it was quite breezy, partly cloudy, and the temperature was 28º.
Registration for tomorrow’s fun race opens at 8 AM with racing beginning at 10 AM. You can continue to follow Junior Nationals and find results at the Muddy Dog Sports website.
Groomer’s choice for today is Woolsey Woods.
