June Alpine Newsletter

The Alpine Program is off to a strong start! We have U16 & FIS athletes working out 5 days a week in the gym and in our amazing backyard! Spring/Summer in Jackson provides unless opportunity for dryland workouts for the athletes! The U16/FIS teams have been hiking Snow King, Crystal Butte and hope to get into the park this summer! They have gone biking in cache as a team which is always a fun time on top of their strength, agility, balance, and core exercises that are done in or near the gym!

Congratulations to all our JHSC Alpine Seniors and PG who will be pursuing the next steps of life after high school! Evalyn Wogoman, Nico McGee, Kye Bessette, Noah Parazette, Sam Clausen and Atticus Sanders are all part of the large group moving on next year! FIS Team Updates:

The JHSC Leadership Team would like to announce Marissa Haase as our new Head FIS coach! Marissa has been coaching for 15 years starting with the Loon Race Team in New Hampshire, D1 Plymouth State University, Stratton Mountain School, and Killington Mountain School! Along with coaching she brings a vast amount of knowledge in the strength and conditioning realm, where she was Head S&C coach at SMS and High-Performance Director at KMS! I have no doubt she will lead this team to success! She will be accompanied by Matias Sopelana as our FIS assistant coming to us from Argentina/France where he is a level 4 ski instructor and was coaching FIS Europa Cup women in France! Scotty Veenis will also be support during training as a FIS home coach and he comes to us from many years coaching with the US Men’s Speed Team! We are excited to see what this team can bring to our group of talented and hardworking athletes!

Summer Ski Camps:

JHSC is hosting 1 week at Mt. Hood for the U10/U12 aged athletes, June 22-28 with coaches Turner Brett and Mari Hanson! Then in July we have a U14/U16 specific camp July 14-20 with coaches Ned Lazarevic, Jamie Stone, and Maci St. Cyr! The FIS Team will be moving in a few directions this summer

There are many options for summer ski camps for athletes to go to, but we are excited to continue to offer an option just for JHSC athletes!
