January 7th Grooming Report

30ºF, Calm, and Bits of Sunshine!

These are some pretty amazing conditions for early January where the temps could easily be in the far below zero range.  Add to that the fact that we’ve had steady light snow through most of the week and the result of this equation is that you can find some really nice Nordic skiing today at Trail Creek.

Today’s early morning grooming covered pretty much every trail in our 15+ K network.  While the narrower sections did receive a classic track touch up, the dusting of fresh left the rest of the classic tracks very skiable so they were mostly untouched.  Skate lanes however did get a fresh Husky buff and are skiing nicely.

Racing continues in Michigan for a select few of our IMD skiers at Nordic Nationals and in Casper for a Wyoming High School race today; the Casper Mountain Webcam shows a good deal of activity and some of yesterday’s results have been posted on the Wyoprep web site.  As of report time, the livestream link was active from Michigan where racing continues today.  Results can be found on the event website

Looking ahead to the upcoming week it looks like a moderate snow event early in the week with sunshine later and continued balmy Wyoming winter temperatures.

Groomer’s choice for today is the East Fields.
