January 5th Grooming Report

A Good Start!

A day in which the grooming department had planned on hauling snow onto the trails turned into a full on grooming day.  Conditions this morning at Trail Creek were one to two inches of fresh snow with moderate drifting going on in the open areas.  In order to catch the snow that was there and form some corduroy to catch a little more, two quick passes of the Ginzu groomer covered pretty much every trail recently groomed.

In addition to the skate grooming, fresh classic tracks (which had mostly drifted in) were laid in the Close Field, Armin’s, and (first of the year) Animal Farm.  At the end of grooming there was still some light drifting happening, but the winds had diminished substantially since earlier in the morning.

The snow refresh, while not yet full winter perfect, has made for some quite nice skiing conditions, a perfect excuse for a “kicking off early, TGIF Nordic ski”!
