Diminishing Strides to Lengthening Strides!
The top photo from Coach Libby is from yesterday’s practice where she reported “Here are a few photos of Teewinot athletes today playing a game called Diminishing Strides in which they practice balance and lengthening glide in classic technique”. The next photo shows what happens when you take those beginning diminutive strides and turn them into speedy world class strides as one of our fastest skiers competes at the Nordic Championships in Houghton Michigan.
Coach Luna reported, “I got a photo of Lena Poduska today, she qualified for the Junior heats in the national championship classic sprint, awesome skiing!” It’ truly great that we have awesome skiing going on from the smallest to the most advanced, way to go coaches and skiers.
You too can take some Nordic strides today if you are lucky enough to come out for a ski. The Husky has been hard at it today, ensuring plenty of groomed snow on which to make those strides. Pretty much every trail received at least one pass today. Yesterday’s classic tracks are still mostly pristine and mainly touched up in narrow sections or where heavily utilized. Olympic and Animal Farm did show a lot of tracks from practice yesterday so were totally reworked. Skate lanes ended up being the main focus in most sections and are really nice.
As of 11 AM a little light snow was falling, but only a trace had been recorded so far even though a leaden sky has been the rule today. Below is one more photo from Coach Libby.
Groomer’s choice for today is Olympic.
