January 2nd Grooming Report

It’s a Theory!

So far this year every recognized holiday has come with a major snowstorm, the Thanksgiving Storm got the Pisten Bully out on our trails from the get go, the Christmas Storm brought us universal classic tracks, and the New Year’s Storm pretty much has gotten us to full winter conditions.  To test this theory going forward, the grooming department is officially recognizing the holidays listed above to see if we can continue to get nice dumps in a timely manner.  Stay tuned…

Today at Trail Creek the New Year’s Day Storm has pretty much wound down, leaving us with an additional 6-8 inches (storm total of 12-18 inches) of snow since yesterday’s grooming.  As of 12:30 there was a bit of sun, a rather balmy temperature of -3ºC/27ºF, and a light to moderate breeze that was indicating it might pick up as the day goes on.

Today’s grooming was two Pisten Bully passes of Saturday’s Sandbag Race Course.  The first course placed a classic track while the second pass was skate only.  Due to all the snow we have recently received you will notice a berm separating the first and second passes in the fields and while skating will be a bit soft yet today, all in all you should have a good time no matter what your technique.

Make sure to remember that there is a very busy weekend coming up with the Sandbag Race here at Trail Creek 10:30 Saturday and JH Nordic Alliance’s 4th Annual Free Ski, Fat Bike, & Snowshoe Day on Sunday.  One final note, there was a five point bull elk hanging out by Outward Bound today.

Groomer’s choice for today is to ski the race course.
