January 29th Grooming Report

Wilson Winter Sport Wednesday!

Wilson Winter Sports Program is having a great time today at report time, enjoying all the sunshine cruising around the trails of Trail Creek, what a break from school!

A little warmer and still plenty of sunshine, it’s another great day to ski at Trail Creek.  While an inversion did set in last night with slightly subzero temperatures in the valley, the top of Glory Bowl barely dropped below freezing through the night.  The forecast is calling for a high of 35º today which would be the first thaw in some time; time will tell if it actually gets that warm.  That same forecast is still calling for about 2 feet of snow by Monday.  As of report time the temperature is already up to 21º.

All that great forecast snow should set us up really well for the Moose Chase on February 15th which will be here before we know it, there is lots of information on the race website, skiers can register on this skireg.com site, and if you just want to volunteer and be part of the fun, you can register for that on this site.  Make sure to get this epic Nordic event on your calendar!

Today’s grooming began in the fields, making sure that everything was in order for another very busy practice day.  You might notice some new grooming; a short sprint course has been set that winds from the stadium in a convoluted loop around the upper Close Field.  Extensive grooming with many fresh classic tracks happened throughout the fields.  After that the Husky ventured into the woods, some required maintenance today had eaten up a bunch of the grooming time so only about half of the woods trails got groomed. However, conditions on trails groomed yesterday or today are nice and all in all it’s simply just another great day to ski!

Groomer’s choice for today is the beautiful, sunny fields.
