January 24th Grooming Report
Elk on Moose Loop!
Apparently these two cow elk missed the memo that this particular loop was designated for moose. They and their dozen or so compatriots have been pretty much enjoying most of the trails in the woods as of late. However, even though their (smaller than moose at least) tracks do make some divots in our ski trails, a glimpse of their radiant russet color in the woods is also pretty cool.
If you are able to take time for a ski today, you will find some pretty cool conditions. Since yesterday’s grooming an inch or two of snow has fallen at Trail Creek. Today’s Husky groom covered pretty much every trail with the emphasis in the woods being resetting classic tracks along the way. The fields received multiple passes with double classic tracks and wide skate lanes. The warm temps and fresh snow made for some nice results.
This afternoon will be busy with Winter Sports and the full slate of JHSC programs. Don’t forget Junior National Qualifier #2 in Soldier Hollow beginning Friday if you’re in the mood for a road trip.
Groomer’s choice for today is the fields.
