January 21st Grooming Report--The Future?!

January 21st Grooming Report

The Future?!

The BBC posted a fascinating article entitled Concrete tunnels and permafrost: How Sweden is future-proofing skiing on January 19th.  If you are the least bit Nordic inclined, which you probably are if you are reading this grooming report, it is a fascinating read about Nordic skiing in Sweden and how they are preparing for all future scenarios.  The tunnel itself is part of Torsby Skidtunnel & Sportcenter and is 1.3 kilometers long.  Perhaps one of you has 20 or 30 million that you don’t know what to do with…this would be really cool at Trail Creek!

Until that day, we’ll just have to make do with what nature provides and today that is more than plenty.  Temps are quite balmy for January with a report time temperature of 33.1ºF, calm winds, and light snow.  Today’s early morning Husky grooming covered most every trail with multiple passes in the Close Field.  On most trails the pass was a combination skate/classic pass.

The snow has firmed nicely; skaters will find fast conditions and classic skiers able to ace the wax will likewise be able to move very efficiently.

Groomer’s choice for today is the East Fields.
