January 17th Grooming Report
Busy Skiers!
Not only were the Lollipoppers in the upper image and the Teewinots in the lower images, but also the Devos, Juniors, and Prep/Comp teams, a whole bunch of area youth, were all skiing their hearts out yesterday at Trail Creek which is a really good thing, and why we do what we do.
Coach Libby’s report yesterday helps to understand a little of what goes on when tasked with the responsibility that coaches undertake when entering the Nordic world:
It was an action packed Monday for Teewinot Team with games of Turtle Tag and Easter Egg (tennis ball) Hunt, adventures to Sam the Truck (featuring Sam and Happy Snowman) and What Time is Mr Wolf? to finish practice. With a focus on the JHSC value of the month, Teamwork, athletes showed growth in agility, hill climbing, and striding technique today and had fun all the while!
We have also begun a new Teewinot tradition this season: kudos. At the end of every practice, the team gathers to offer a compliment, encouragement, gratitude or observation of our time together. The kids all seem to look forward this sharing time and it's great to witness the collective team support.
Thanks so much Coaches Libby and Kathy for your contributions.
If Nordic skiing is part of what you are planning on doing today, coming out to Trail Creek would be a perfect part of that plan. Today’s Husky grooming covered nearly every trail. Overnight a dusting of cold snow fell, leaving some nice kicking material in the existing classic tracks. The focus on most woods trails today was gaining a bit of width for skaters while the field trails mostly received multiple passes with fresh classic tracks.
Temps are forecast to remain warm, but below freezing with little snow this week, which should result in continued nice conditions.
Groomer’s choice for today is to ski out to Sam the Truck.
