January 12th Grooming Report
Instructing Instructors!
The skis were parked in front of the cabin this morning as the team was being filled with the knowledge and lore of the art and science of Nordic today. A dedicated group was giving their precious time to learn how to make this unique skiing sport available to more people, this is just one of the really cool things that happens at Trail Creek on a regular basis. If you help support our mission, thanks!
Another cool thing that happens here is that people get to go cross country skiing and that is happening today as well. Our trusty Pisten Bully, even while running on reduced power was able to make at least a single skate/classic pass on almost every trail today with double passes on the fields, Woolsey Woods, Moose Loop, and Homesite. Even better news is that if all goes according to plan, by sundown Monday it will be back to its full “rip –snortin” 115 horse power which will be a really good thing.
Conditions as of 1:30 were a mix of light snow showers with the sun trying to peak through from time to time. About 6 inches of snow has fallen in the past 24 hours and the current temperature is -3ºC/26ºF.
Snow is forecast to continue to fall throughout the week and things will be really busy with all the teams, Wilson Wintersports, and the IMD Qualifier on Friday and Saturday but there still should be many opportunities for everybody to ski. Look for a tentative grooming schedule in tomorrow’s report.
Groomer’s choice for today is Homesite which is at its best for the year.
