Freeride Program - April Newsletter

The Freeride Program has wrapped up its seasonal training for the majority of our freeski and snowboard team athletes.  March was a very fun and successful month for our team, and a great end to the 2022 snowboard and freeski season.  We wrapped up our local Wednesday Night Lights rail-jam series, we had athletes competing in an IFSA Junior National, and our park and pipe athletes were training hard for USASA Nationals.

At this writing, our snowboard team is currently at USASA Nationals in Copper Mountain, Colorado. We are competing in multiple Olympic disciplines which include:  Boardercross, halfpipe, slopestyle, and rail-jam.  During the week of April 1-7, our athletes will be competing against other athletes throughout the nation who too received an invitation from their regional competition performances.  When our snowboard team leaves our freeski park and pipe athletes will head down to Copper Mountain from the 8-14thof April to compete in slopestyle and skiercross.

Looking forward into the big-mountain disciplines, we have one snowboard athlete, Collin Schubert, who has qualified for the IFSA NOR-AMS competition in Big Sky, Montana.  We’re really proud of his invitation and we will keep our community posted on how he is doing via our social media platforms.

Once our Nationals competitions wrap up we will be looking to some down time, skateboarding, mountain biking, and our summer training camps.  If you have any questions about our programming, events, or ways to support the JHSC Freeride Program, please contact Andy Lex @ andy@jhskiclub.org.

Happy Spring!
