Skate Camp 1

The first Skateboard camp of the summer took place on June 16 & 18.  This camp involved some tweaks to the formula, but still maximized fun while managing safety concerns.  With rain in the forecast, we decided to make a run to Idaho Falls and it was very well received.  The park was nearly dry when we arrived and we had the place to ourselves for most of the day.  Wednesday was a similar forecast, so the parents and skaters agreed to move our second camp day to Thursday.  We lucked out with beautiful weather and split our time between the Driggs and Jackson Skateparks with a short stop-off at Axis Gymnastics as well.  This was a great couple days of camp that allowed the kids to get some fresh air and brush up on their skills while enjoying the company of their peers. A link to the photos and videos from the first skate camp can be found on Facebook here. We have three more sold-out camps planned for the remainder of the summer.

Weekly Bike Rides

Jack Kilmain came out for a mountain bike ride last week.  We rode up Shade Monkey over to Hagen Highway and had to head back on the River trail because of an afternoon rain storm.  When we returned to the base of Snow King, Jack realized his I-phone was missing from his pocket.  Luckily we were able to track the phone's location up Cache Creek and get there before anyone else had grabbed it.  The fact that we had to go for a longer ride and actually recovered the phone, we were feeling pretty lucky.  Rides will continue all summer on Wednesdays from 2:30 to 5 pm.  Progression Plus and Competition Teams are welcomed to join.  Please register online here and RSVP with Rob.

Wild West Skateboard Contest Series - Canceled

It is with heavy hearts that we must postpone the 2020 Wild West Skateboard Contest Series until 2021.  This was a difficult decision to make and the JHSC Freeride program would like to encourage the community to stay active and working toward your goals at home or the Skatepark.  We would also like to engage our friends and families to consider a donation to the JH Skatepark Coalition as they are working diligently to fundraise for a skate park expansion & improvements this Fall and Spring of 2021.

Award Winners

Congratulations to all of the 2020 Freeride Program Award recipients.  If you have not already done so, please coordinate with Rob about getting your new hat.  Options of the hats can be seen above.
