February 8th Grooming Report

Google sent a message recently that the image above of a past race at Trail Creek has had 20,000 views since it was posted on google maps in association with the Trail Creek Nordic Center.  You can see that image and a few others if you check us out on google maps.

Today is not quite like that brilliantly sunny race day, years ago.  However, even though overnight we had a couple inches of very light snow and as of report time, conditions are cloudy with just a few flakes falling, skiing is very nice today.  The temperature has cooled back to a Nordic friendly 21º which allowed grooming to proceed in a grand fashion.

The Husky’s early morning venture began with a journey through the woods, resetting every trail in the system with a single skate/classic pass.  Grooming then shifted to the fields with multiple passes on most trails, fresh classic tracks everywhere, and some double classic tracks in the Close Field.

There is lots of racing going on today, the high school team is skiing in Casper and our IMD racers are competing in West Yellowstone, Montana.  You can see a little of what’s going on in Casper at this webcam site and results from the IMD Qualifier today and tomorrow in Montana are available here.

Groomer’s choice for today is to ski the fresh snow in the fields.
