February 4th Grooming Report
Legendary Trail Creek Yeti Returns!
The winter must have deepened enough so that our resident yeti has been able to venture down from the lofty peaks of his or her (it’s kind of hard to tell on a yeti) summer home to make the winter appearance at Trail Creek. Thankfully it’s a very friendly yeti and seems to enjoy hanging out with the Teewinots. Many thanks to Coach Libby for capturing these great images, our Teewinots have been very busy this week with not only yeti encounters, but all sorts of activities like the Nordic serenade below, being a Teewinot sure looks like fun!
You can have lots of fun today if you come on out for a Nordic ski. It’s kind of a crazy day with a report time temperature of 47º. The Husky ventured out this morning to discover that mostly the snow is holding up really well. While in a few places, the tracks were sinking in a bit, most of the results were quite favorable.
Today’s route covered nearly every trail in the system with the focus being bringing back some width from recent snow storms. Existing classic tracks were in pretty good shape, but were reset in about 50% of the trail network. The Close Field and Woolsey Woods received multiple passes. If the sun was shining today, our trails would be seriously softening, but are holding up well for such warm temps.
Groomer’s choice for today is Woolsey Woods and maybe you could spot the yeti too.
