February 4th Grooming Report--A Balmy Pre-Race Day

February 4th Grooming Report

A Balmy Morning

It was comfortably warm at Trail Creek this morning, hitting 24 degrees Fahrenheit outside before the sun was even up, and promising some great skiing today. The Husky did its job well, leaving some excellent corduroy as it curved and weaved its way through the wooded and open trails. The focus today was on flattening some trails that had built up a bit of an angle over the past few weeks, smoothing them to a less-canted, better ski, as well as wiping out some residual ghost classic tracks that had accumulated. Today’s grooming was mostly a single pass across most trails, with double passes on Animal Farm and Olympic. Most classic tracks looked good, so I left many of them alone, save for a few that had been tracked out a bit, since it's likely to soften up over the next few days.

It’s only two days until Trail Creek swaps over to grooming mainly the Moose Chase course, so be sure to get out today or tomorrow if you want to have a less focused ski! If you are interested in the Moose Chase, be sure to sign up online at https://jhskiclub.org/moosechase.

Groomer's Choice is Animal Farm and Olympic.
