February 26th Grooming Report
Skiers Everywhere Today!
The word must be out that it’s a lovely day to ski today because morning ski traffic has already been pretty busy at Trail Creek today. This afternoon promises to be even busier as almost every JHSC program will be on snow today. Thanks so much to Coach Kirsys for sending in the image of her Teewinot group today!
Today’s Husky grooming began in the woods with a pass of nearly every trail. In general, the focus today was on skate lanes as they definitely need some work after the recent heavy snow and warm temps. Existing classic tracks were skiing pretty well and were only reset in the narrower sections and on Armin’s. Multiple wood passes with fresh classic tracks happened on Moose Poop, Animal Farm, and Olympic.
Grooming then shifted to the fields with multiple passes and extensive grooming on every feature. All classic tracks were reset along with minor loops and the Nordic X course. As of report time the temperature had warmed to a balmy 36º under lots of sunshine. The snow was firm, but softening a bit on this wonderfully gorgeous warming day.
Groomer’s choice for today is to enjoy some dappled shade while skiing Olympic.
