February 26th Grooming Report

Morning Roundup!

Nordic groomer job description: Maintain and operate all kinds of grooming equipment, light the fire in the cabin, social media,…elk and moose herder.  When most Nordic groomers were growing up, thinking about what their future held for them, a daily elk herding adventure wasn’t probably on their agenda.  Herding elk in the past decade has definitely become part of grooming at Trail Creek as once again today, the herd was hanging out on Outward Bound early this morning before reluctantly heading east to their day beds, all in a groomer’s day of work.

That day of work also included lots of Husky grooming.  Every trail received at least a single pass with Homesite/Suicide, Mugs Meadow, and the fields receiving multiple passes.  Classic tracks were set where needed as substantial snow is forecast today.  Snow has been on and off this morning with heavy snowfall beginning around 10 AM.  All in all, skiing is nice although conditions will change as snow accumulates through the day.

Thanks to all the master class skiers and especially the coaches who made it all happen over the past 10 weeks; put those skills to use and keep on skiing!  Prep/comp are off today after a busy weekend, high school is done for the year after the recent state championships, and Juniors will be having a great time in Sun Valley next weekend and the IMD Youthfest.

Groomer’s choice for today is Mug’s Meadow.
