February 26th Grooming Report
Merciful Peace and Quiet
Congratulations to the Jackson Hole Nordic Team! They emerged victorious once again, taking team first for both boys and girls; Great job, everyone! You can check out the more detailed results here.
After the hubbub of championships this weekend, the gentle silence of snow falling is a merciful reprieve for Trail Creek, allowing us to finally return to the gentle curving and sweeping trails we know and love. As of this report, about a quarter of an inch of snow has fallen, which is not quite enough to soften the trails hardened by nearly a thousand skiers, but which makes a big difference, especially on the race course trails.
Today’s grooming was mostly a single pass of every trail in the network, with off-race grooming focused on restoring ungroomed trails, while on-race grooming focused on returning the classic track to service. Unfortunately, the trails were very, very hard on the race course, so some of the classic tracks are a bit chunky, but should be more than serviceable to get you to the off-race trails, which is where you’ll really want to go today, as the fresh powder groomed very nicely. Woolsey was looking nice, but at the last moment, a pair of moose were spooked back onto it! It may be a bit tracked up, but with any luck, we’ll be looking at 4-8 inches of snow by tomorrow, and things should be marvelous once again.
Groomer’s choice is Animal Farm into Shades of Grey.
