February 25th Grooming Report
Weather on the Horizon!
The sunrise was beautiful, if a bit tempestuous this morning as another day of Nordic skiing dawned at Trail Creek. After a dry week, a winter storm is once again in store, with heavy snowfall forecast to begin around 9 AM Monday. This storm is supposed to come with some significant winds with forecasts of gusts up to near 50 mph; sometimes they funnel down the canyon and hit Trail Creek, sometimes not, however a freshening of the snow will be lovely, and it might be one of those magical days to ski for those dressed appropriately.
Today is a lovely day to ski as well. The temperature at the cabin is already at 40º with moderate breezes. The Husky did an early morning groom of nearly every trail in the woods with results being mostly positive. A few areas that had frozen especially hard came up a bit crunchy, but skiing should be fast and pretty nice. The fields were groomed a little later after warming and are also firm and fast with pretty nice corduroy. Animal Farm, Moose Poop, Woolsey Woods, and the fields all received multiple passes, classic tracks were reset in the fields and where needed.
Groomer’s choice for today is Moose Poop.
