February 25th Grooming Report

Lots of Racing!

If you are still in primary or secondary school and involved in a Nordic program, you were probably racing this past weekend.  Click on either the top or bottom images to see more.  The Intermountain Youth Championships wrapped up yesterday at Trail Creek and, in spite of copious amounts of snow, it appeared as if the classic racers managed to find their way around the tracks in good speed.  While all did an amazing job, Coach Ben sent out a special commendation: “Congrats to Peter and Aurora for competing at Intermountain Youth Champs this weekend. Peter won the NordicX and Aurora came in 2nd in the classic race. Aurora finished the U14 cup season in 2nd place, and Peter in second. Fantastic job from our up and coming Prep Team athletes.”  Full results are available at Sportsstats.

Thanks to Daniel Abraham for sending in a report and pictures from the Wyoming State High School Championships in Lander.  While full results are available at High Plains Nordic, Daniel highlighted the local results:

No broken pole montage this weekend (although we did break a few poles)!

"Girls and Boys won both state titles, and won each individual race day (5K classic and a tough 10k Skate). Both teams faced serious competition from Lander and Natrona County and really rose to the challenge! The Girls scored 233 points, beating Lander by 26 points. The Boys scored 240 points, beating Natrona by 23 points.

"Elijah was double state champ for individual titles. Pics attached!

"Inside podium pics are for day 1 classic, outside podium lineup is day 2 skate.

"Results for those scoring points (Top 5 in the top 30 score, but skiers 6-10 for JHHS would be high scorers on any other team!)"

Today at Trail Creek snow continues to fall with the storm total reaching into the feet range.  Today’s Pisten Bully grooming was a single “let’s keep ahead of the storm” pass through the woods with more extensive grooming in the fields in preparation for today’s busy practice schedule.  Skating will be soft while classic skiers should do just fine.  If you have time it would surely be worth it to come on out and watch the snow getting deeper and deeper.

Groomer’s choice for today is a long tour in the woods.
